FAQs

Q: How do I use DermaSeptic?

A: DermaSeptic is an electronic skin care device. Simply apply a thin, even layer of KlearGel (silver conductive gel) to the pure silver tip and on the tip the finger which presses against the steel plate, then hold the silver tip to your skin. The only thing you will notice is that the green LED light will begin to flash. The flashing green light indicates that you have made proper contact with the skin and that the device is working. (Note: If the green light flashes very rapidly, it is time to replace the battery.)

Q: Will I feel anything?

A: No. You should not feel any sensation. In very unusual circumstances, clients have noted a very, very slight tingling. This is not a problem.

Q: What if this doesn’t work for me?

Q: How does DermaSeptic work?

A: Silver is the active ingredient in DermaSeptic. Ionic silver is a natural anti-microbial that inhibits viral and bacterial infections. The DermaSeptic delivers silver ions directly into the infected tissue. Once delivered under the skin, the silver ions remain effective for many hours – killing virus and bacteria as they try to grow.

Q: How often and for how long should I hold the DermaSeptic against the infected area?

A: This depends on the area of the body where it is being used and your personal sensitivity.

For cold sores and other herpes virus outbreaks, the recommended dosage is 5 minutes every 3 hours until the inflammation ceases. Once the inflammation has subsided, the frequency of treatment can be reduced. It is recommended that you start treatment as soon as you feel the tingling sensation that indicates the start of an outbreak.

Warts, by their very nature, have a notable amount of tissue built up, it will take your body some time to reduce the tissue mass. Warts can take from a week to a month to fully disappear. Remove the wart tissue with a dissolving product before treating with the DermaSeptic. This reduces the depth of penetration necessary for the DermaSeptic and allows more effective reduction of the virus. We suggest that you apply the DermaSeptic for 10 minutes twice a day until the tenderness or growth stops.

Please note that everyone’s skin is different and the sensitivity will vary from one part of the body to another. Therefore, your application time may vary.

In the case of cold sores or herpes lesions, we have seen some customers stop an outbreak with a single 3-minute application. Other users have lesions so intense that they require applications every few hours for an entire day to stop them. We’ve seen Plantar’s warts that disappeared with just a few applications and warts that took weeks just to stop the growth.

Users in field trials and customers have reported that short (3 minute) applications of the DermaSeptic at regular intervals seem to be far more productive than long applications spaced many hours apart. The optimal interval depends upon the severity of the outbreak. Some users apply the DermaSeptic every hour for the first few hours and then every three hours for the remainder of the day. This seems to stop the virus before it can cause a visible lesion in most cases.

The HSV is a relatively aggressive virus and we would recommend applications of 5 minutes every 3 hours to start. In areas of cosmetic concern such as the face, you would be better off using 3 minutes every 12 hours to reduce the risk of “browning” the skin. If the condition does not respond favorably within 24 hours, then it may not be a virally or bacterially induced condition and in that case, this treatment will not be helpful.

Q: What if I get a gray-brown discoloration?

A: For some people, if the device is held in place for too long, there can be a gray-brown discoloration of the skin. This will fade in several days and is in no way harmful to you or your skin. This is simply a build-up of silver in one location and will naturally be dispersed by your body within a couple of days.

Q: What sort of research and testing were involved in the creation of this product?

A: The Bacterin Laboratory of Bozeman, Montana were used for the initial review of the DermaSeptic product technology. You will note in the Research and Testing portion of this site, that Bacterin reports “the DermaSeptic technology is superior to all commercially available, anti-infective coating technologies.”

The University of Colorado Medical School, Denver, Colorado, began a double blind, placebo controlled, clinical trial of DermaSeptic in Fall 2003.

Q: How much is too much?

A: One common denominator is that our products are designed to put the ionic silver in the place where it is needed and only where it is needed. This allows us to use thousands of times less active agent than an oral antibiotic or antiviral. What this means to the user is that they can be far less concerned about “taking too much” than they would be with most common medications.

This product is a tool with which you can positively improve your health. Like any other tool, the work that they can produce is somewhat dependent upon the hand of the user. Work with this tool to find the dosage that is appropriate for you. If you have questions or comments, we are always happy to hear from you. Please contact use by e-mail, phone or regular mail.

Long applications of the DermaSeptic won’t harm you, but they can leave a brownish-gray discoloration of the skin. This “stain” will go away in a day or two and is certainly preferable to an outbreak, but it can usually be avoided by using short applications at more regular intervals.

Q: Can you tell me more about Cold Sores, Fever Blisters and Herpes?

A: Cold Sores, Fever Blisters and Herpes are caused by the herpes simplex virus. It is estimated that 45 million Americans are plagued by this virus. The virus typically lives in the nerve ganglia of your brain and travels down the nerve cells to the skin to multiply. When this migration occurs, the sufferer can usually feel the trouble brewing as a “tingling” feeling at the lip or around the mouth where the lesion is going to form.

Once the virus arrives at the skin, it destroys the skin cells and inhibits it’s ability to heal, in order to most effectively replicate. This is what causes the skin damage and the lasting open sore. The damage can be extensive and can take your body many days to repair.

It is best to stop the virus from replicating at the point when you first feel the migration to the skin. When used at the first sign of symptoms the tissue damage can often be prevented, or will be minimized and the healing time will be significantly reduced. The more damage that occurs before the virus is stopped, the more time it will take for your body to repair the tissue.

In order to stop an outbreak before it causes skin-damage, the virus must be inhibited when it is still well below the surface of the skin. This is why average topical salves and creams are less successful. The skin will keep the salve on the outside where it cannot reach the virus until it is already at the surface. The DermaSeptic penetrates the skin to reach the virus at a very early stage.

Q: Can you tell me more about warts?

A: A number of our customers are using the DermaSeptic to eliminate persistent warts. This can be accomplished quite effectively in most cases. Recognizing the correct protocol for using the DermaSeptic and diligence are key to a successful outcome.

The term “warts” was originally intended to describe a tumorous growth condition, which is caused by a virus. However, over the years it’s meaning has broadened greatly. It is now used to describe virtually any small tumorous growth on the skin. The importance here is that the DermaSeptic will kill the underlying virus that is creating a wart, but only if it is induced by a virus or fungus. Warts that are not caused by virus or fungus will not be affected by using the DermaSeptic. It is difficult to identify the cause of a wart, but if it persists after treatment with the DermaSeptic, then it is most likely not viral or fungal.

The very issue that causes the wart to re-appear after the conventional means of removal have been applied is what causes it to be so vulnerable to the silver iontophoresis therapy provided by the DermaSeptic. Simply removing the tumorous growth does not rid the skin of the virus that precipitates the growth. The wart will always grow back. Recurrent or spreading warts are usually a good indication that the DermaSeptic is an appropriate means of therapy, as it will kill the underlying virus.

The wart itself is generally difficult to penetrate. In order for the DermaSeptic to reach the root of the wart and kill the virus at the base, the ions must migrate through the skin. We suggest using a dissolving or wart-removing product on the wart until it is reduced to the point of being even with the surface of the skin if possible. Apply the DermaSeptic to the wart for 10 minutes, 2 times per day, until the tenderness or growth stops.

If the wart is a relatively new, soft, low-profile growth, it is not necessary to remove it before therapy. The older and harder the wart is, the more difficult it is for the silver ions to penetrate it and reach the root where the virus lives
